Reunion 2010 Update

Everything is going to plan, well almost!!

The Tree Dedication will commence as soon as possible after the NMA Rememberance Service in the Chapel. Our Service will be taken by Rev. Michael Wishart ex Capt.F7 Squadron Padre, others attending will be Harold Lock, one of the survivors of the sinking and the subsequent Japanese internmentCamps, and Commodore Barry Bryant ex Skipper of the Jupiter 1987-88.

Later in the afternoon we will go by coach to Burton upon Trent for the Shopping and a little beer tasting at the local Brewery!

The Reunion Dinner will take place at the Cathedral Lodge Hotel at 1930 for 2000.

If anyone would still like to come there is a couple of rooms still available and plenty of room at the Dinner for old shipmates and their friends and family.

Reunion 2010 Update

All the details ofthe Reunion Weekend, AGM and Tree Dedication Ceremony will be published in the April Edition of the JUPS' NEWS sent out to all Association Members.

In brief the weekend Itinerary will be as follows:-

Friday 25th - those staying for the weekend in the Cathedral Lodge Hotel will probably meet in the Hotel Bar around 1800 and either Dine in the Hotel or take a walk in to the Town for an evening meal.

Saturday 26th - 0900 AGM at the Cathedral Lodge Hotel.

Saturday 26th - 1015-1030 - Transport by coach to the NMA (pick up from The George if required) - 10 min journey.

Saturday 26th - 1100 - Act of Remembrance in the Chapel

Saturday 26th - 1130 - Tree dedication Ceremony - 10 mins from Reception

Saturday 26th - o/c - Choices available - stay for walk around NMA with lunch in the Cafe, or Coach trip to Burton upon Trent for Shopping/Brewery visit or possible coach to Lichfield/Cathedral/shops, collected by coach back to Cathedral Lodge/George for the Evening Reunion Dinner.

Saturday 26th - 1930 for 2000 Reunion Dinner in the Cathedral Lodge Hotel

Sunday 27th - late check out - visit Cathedral , walk in to Lichfield - o/c disperse.

Double Room @ £69.50/room/night Incl. full English Breakfast, double room single occupancy £59.50/room/night incl. full English Breakfast.

Saturday Reunion Dinner 3 course @ £10/person

The George - 3*

Double Room @  £88.00/room/night Incl. full English Breakfast, Single Room @ £56.00 Incl. full English breakfast.

All the above arrangements/timings may be changed later as numbers as finalised. Because of the catering and transport requirements an Attendance Form will need to be completed and returned to me at least 2 weeks before the Reunion Weekend. Members will receive this Form with the next Newsletter, there will also be a downloadable version available very soon from this web site.

Reunion 2010

The Associations 2010 Reunion & AGM will be in Lichfield Staffs. near to the National Memorial Arboretum. We have been given permission to plant a Tree in memory of the WW2 Jupiter and its Crew which sank in the Java Sea in 1942 and as part of our normal Weekend we will have a Ceremony at the NMA next to our Tree at 11.30 on Saturday the 25th September 2010.

The Cathedral Lodge Hotel in Lichfield has been block booked for all its Bed Rooms and a Large Fuction Roon for our Reunion Dinner, the George Hotel is nearby and rates have been agreed with them also, if the rates on both these hotels are not to your liking then there is a Premier Inn very close as well. Rates for both Hotels will be posted soon as will dates/times of all the events.
