A full report will be written in the next Issue of Jup’s News due for posting out prior to Christmas to all Members of the Association, but here is a brief report on our activities.

Those staying at the Hotel massed in the bar on Friday 17th October at about 1900 hours and left after an excellent evening meal and many sherbets at around 0100 the next day. The AGM was at 1030, opened by our President who congratulated Ged on rising to the challenge of organising two venues rather than the usual one! The Agenda was completed with the Chairman stepping down for a well earned rest, Bungy taking over and Ray Macleod coming in as Vice Chairman, other positions as required were filled by willing ‘volunteers’. The area for next years Reunion was proposed as Weston super Mare, Jan Blain a local, was requested to investigate suitable venues, this he was very willing to do until we confirmed expenses was not allowed for field trips!! Jan confirmed after the effects of the previous tot had taken hold that he was extremely willing to do anything we wanted.

The afternoon activities were split into four areas of expertise, the ladies went shopping, Ged, Mac, Buck & friend!!! went to watch Middlesbrough against Chelsea, the Boss went walkabout, and Tony, Jan, Bungy, Dutchy & Bagsy went into the village to check out the local real ale and watch the match on the Pubs big screen.

The evening started at 2000 with a great meal attended by our guest Ron Lowes, Deputy Leader of Middlesbrough Council, followed by short speeches and various sherbet cocktails culminating with a cabaret and general shuffling on the dance floor.

We all checked out on Sunday morning after a heartening breakfast and travelled back to our home ports, a great weekend, new faces, old faces and some missing faces. We now look forward to next year when hopefully more new members will be able to join our happy family of The HMS Jupiter Association.
